Why Socks are So Important

Socks for Our City
Do you or your family members have sock drawers that are bursting at the seams? Many people take an abundance of socks for granted. However, there are many children whose families cannot afford to buy them. Socks are one of the most common items kids living in poverty need and access to them is often limited.
Why Socks are Important
Socks are a protective barrier that keep your feet dry and insulated, provide protection from injuries and discomfort from shoes. Unfortunately, some children do not have socks to protect them from the cold Cleveland weather. The mission of our 2020 Community Beacon, Shoes and Clothes for Kids (SC4K), is to help provide Cleveland children access to socks and other needed supplies, which can help them attend school with confidence.
Help Cleveland Kids Start Their Day on the Right Foot
SC4K includes socks in school appropriate packages along with a weeks’ worth of clothing, underwear, hygiene kits, masks and supplies. You can help by participating in SC4K’s ‘Socks In The City’ campaign, now through December 11th. There are many ways to support this effort, including volunteering in the SC4K warehouse (which follows COVID-19 safety protocols), buying socks or donating funds to purchase them. For more information, visit SC4K.org.
Join us in supporting children and their families through the SC4K Socks In The City collection drive to make a meaningful difference in a child’s life.
