International Day of the Girl Child

We celebrate girls each year on October 11th ─ acknowledging the challenges they face around the world on what is now known, universally, as International Day of the Girl Child.

Fighting to empower girls

In December of 2011, the United Nations adopted a resolution to recognize and promote girls’ rights globally. Research shows that when communities invest in girls’ safety, health, education and rights, they build better lives for themselves and stronger communities. The day of the girl is observed once a year, with events held around the world to raise awareness of gender inequality.

Our commitment to women’s causes lasts all year long

At Luma Wealth, we’re dedicated to helping women and girls be the best that they can be. Over the past year, we joined forces with Greater Cleveland’s YWCA to host an educational program on negotiating benefits and compensation and we also celebrated extraordinary leaders at the Women of Achievement Awards. Most recently, as a Circle 2017 Sponsor, we supported young women who are aging out of foster care.

We rallied at the Bag Lady Luncheon benefiting College Now’s mentoring program, which helps low income women find scholarships, get into and graduate from college. On October 11th, we’ll be participating in STEAM inspiration day at Laurel School, helping 6-8th grade girls dream big and work together to create a business plan. Through these and other events, our goal is to help the female community thrive.
